Kitchen stations

What it's for

Stations are the named areas of your kitchen — Grill, Tandoor, Bar, and so on. Assign each menu item to a station, and the Kitchen Display can be filtered so every cook sees only their own dishes. Stations also drive per-station ticket printing.

note

Stations are a setup task, done once on the web dashboard, and need the Multi-Station feature turned on. If you don't see Stations, enable it under Settings → Features.

Where to find it

Choose Stations in the left sidebar (route /stations). The page is titled Kitchen Stations.

Create a station

  1. Choose Add Station.
  2. Fill in the form:
    • Station Name (required) — e.g. Grill, Bar, Tandoor. A short slug is generated for you and shown as you type.
    • Brand Name (optional) — useful for cloud kitchens running multiple brands from one station.
    • Station Color — the colour that badges this station on the display.
    • Description (optional).
  3. Choose Save Station.
WebName the station, give it a colour, and save.
Name the station, give it a colour, and save.
tip

In a hurry? The empty page offers Quick-start presets — one tap creates a common station like Grill or Bar, ready to tweak.

Managing stations

Each station appears as a card with its colour, name, slug, and printer status. From a card you can:

  • Reorder with the up/down arrows — the order here sets the order on the display.
  • Edit (the pencil) to change any detail.
  • Delete (the trash icon) — you'll be asked to confirm with Sure?.

Routing menu items to a station

Creating a station doesn't assign any dishes yet. You do that on the menu:

  1. Go to Menu → Operations.
  2. For each item, choose the station it's cooked at.

From then on, every time that item is ordered it's routed to its station automatically, and kitchen staff filtering the display by that station will see it.

Printing per station

To print tickets at a station's own printer, set it up under Settings → Print & Kitchen. Each station card shows its printer status — a printer type when one is configured, or No printer when not.

Worked example

A kitchen with three sections. Create Grill (red), Tandoor (orange), and Bar (blue). In Menu → Operations, set steaks and burgers to Grill, breads and tikkas to Tandoor, and drinks to Bar. Now the grill cook filters the display to Grill and sees only their dishes — and if each section has a printer, its tickets print right there.

Tips & things to watch

  • Set colours you can tell apart — they're how cooks spot their station on a busy display.
  • ⚠️ A new station is empty until you assign items to it in Menu → Operations.
  • ⚠️ Deleting a station doesn't delete its menu items, but they'll need reassigning to another station to keep routing cleanly.
